While talking about Hoover Dam’s history, Kenny Slaught mentions it was built during the Great Depression era, from 1931 to 1936. The structure cost $49 million, and was originally named Boulder Dam. Its name was changed as a reference to President Herbert Hoover, who was a major sponsor. The dam measures 379 meters in length, is 221 meters high and has a total capacity of 35.000 cubic kilometers. Due to its large capacity, it can generate over 4,2 billion kWh 2 a year.
