Santa Barbara’s most well known structures are El Pueblo Viejo district, situated downtown, old Hotel Virginia and the Old Mission’s pink towers where events are held. The County Courthouse displays gorgeous murals, and the clock tower and observation deck offer a scenic view of the region. The Lobero theatre was rebuilt by George Washington Smith in the 1920’s, but was first opened in 1873. The theatre still hosts the city’s premier performances. The founder’s detailed planning is the reason why Santa Barbara kept its architectural legacy intact.
